1.) How does the opening sequence of the film create meaning for the audience? - The opening scene of This is England establishes the era that the film is set in and what the society was like. It establishes the time that the film is in and shows the political opinions and views that British people had. It shows key events that happened in Britain during the 80's. It also establishes the skinhead culture that the film explores. It also shows the significant event of the Falklands war which cause political debates on whether it was right. 2) What is the film's relationship with Thatcherism and how does the film offer critique of 80's Britain? - The film opens with clips of Thatcher, this shows her importance and controversial status in society.
